Emsworth's Food and Drink Scene: A Guide to Eating Out

Emsworth has one of the most celebrated independent food scenes in Hampshire — from award-winning waterfront restaurants to harbourside cafes and village pubs.

Emsworth's reputation for good food punches well above its size. The town has a cluster of independent restaurants on South Street and around the harbour that draw visitors from across Hampshire and West Sussex. Fat Olives — a long-established fixture on South Street — and 36 On The Quay Restaurant with Rooms at the harbourside are two of the most acclaimed. Nicolino's Italian Restaurant on South Street is a local institution with decades of loyal custom.

The cafe scene is equally strong. Flintstones Tea Room on the quayside and Driftwood Cafe are firm favourites for breakfast and lunch. For coffee, South Street Coffee Co and Ethos Coffee & Brunch in nearby Havant both have strong followings.

Pubs range from the Blue Bell on South Street — a proper harbourside pub — to the Woodmancote Pub and Wheelwright's Arms out toward Westbourne. Most serve food and many have beer gardens suited to the coastal climate. The town also has a good selection of Indian restaurants, pizza, and takeaways for evenings in.
